Almeter tops CCAA Central All-Stars

Westfield-Brocton sophomore Jason Almeter is the boys soccer Player of the Year on the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division’s All-Star teams announced recently.

Almeter has seven teammates on the First and Second Teams. Nathan Culbreth, Dylan Scriven and Jimmy Wolfe join him on the First Team. The Wolverines’ Josh Heim, Mike Johnson, David Skinner and Tim Skinner are on the Second Team.

Their coach, Jay Pikiewicz, was named Coach of the Year. Westfield-Brocton won the CCAA Central regular season title this fall with a 7-2-1 record. In the playoffs, the Wolverines made it to the Section VI Class C final, losing there to Allegany-Limestone.

Pine Valley has four players on the teams. First Teamers are Dana Jenkins and Richard Johnston, while Dakota Loop and Makiah Snyder made the Second Team.

Phillip Narraway and Darren Jiminez are Silver Creek’s First Team representatives, with Black Knights Jacob Bouvier and Jacob Malette on the Second Team.

Chautauqua Lake saw Isai Saldana and Andrew Luba make the First Team and Bryce Peterson and Kyle Olson land on the Second Team. The Thunderbirds also won the team Sportsmanship Award.

T.J. Jimerson and David Gullo of North Collins are also on the First Team. Fellow Eagles Mike Gullo and Tanner Loretto are on the Second Team.

Honorable Mentions were as follows: Chautauqua Lake, Danny Prewitt; North Collins, Alan Hornberger and Anthony Novoa; Silver Creek, Bryce Shomper and Jeremey Wilcox; and Westfield-Brocton, Isaac Caballero.
