FHS boys bowling team tops Trojans

JAMESTOWN — Fredonia High School’s boys bowling team swept Southwestern at Jamestown Bowling Company on Friday, while the FHS girls team got its first wins of the season in a split with the Lady Trojans squad.

The Fredonia boys rolled 1,061-933-1,006-3,000 to Southwestern’s 780-739-752-2,271 to grab a 4-0 victory. Fredonia is now 10-2 on the season, while Southwestern is 3-13.

The Hillbillies’ top bowlers were Trace Mackenzie with a 213-236-244-693 and Bryson Pacos, who scored 258-162-256-676. Josh Ellman recorded a score of 224-177-157-558 for the team. The Trojans were led by Alex Nelson’s 154-224-223-601 and Jordan Smith’s 164-172-199-535.

In the girls’ matchup, Fredonia had 641-755-660-2,056 to 685-674-694-2,053 for the Lady Trojans. The Lady Hillbillies improved to a 2-10 record, while Southwestern also got its first victories of the season, moving to 2-14.

Gillian Reed led FHS with a 182-200-520. Chris Anne Mosier had a 409 series, while Allie Cook went for 158-404, for the visitors. Southwestern’s highest-scoring bowlers were Alexis Berry (185-191-511) and Lauren Kimball (182-439).

FALCONER 2-2, SILVER CREEK 2-2

SILVER CREEK — The Black Knights girls and boys bowling teams both tied Falconer in a Friday match at Hanover Lanes.

Silver Creek’s boys got their first wins of the season in their 2-2 split with the Falcons. The Black Knights, who are now 2-10, bowled 767-723-798-2,288 while Falconer carded a score of 714-843-741-2,298.

Daniel Paterson broke 600 for Silver Creek, scoring 182-189-230-601. The Black Knights’ Bryan Berek had a 160-170-465.

Falconer’s top bowler was Matt Gullotti, with a 190-216-554. Matt Bowman of the Falcons recorded a score of 179-179-489.

The females also tied, 2-2. Falconer scored 733-640-708-2,081 to Silver Creek’s 614-674-709-1,997.

McKayla Scott of Falconer recorded the best match of the night among the girls, with a 149-186-185-520. Her teammate, Beth Brown, bowled 166-139-422.

Andrea Olsen led the Black Knights’ girls team, who went to 3-9 on the season, with a 152-176-463. McKenna Steklasa bowled 176-156-445 for Silver Creek.

The Black Knights return to the lanes Tuesday at Southwestern.
