Frewsburg beats Brocton by 9
BROCTON — An 8-0 run just before halftime proved to be the difference-maker in the Frewsburg Bears’ 51-42 defeat of Brocton (1-8, 0-2) in CCAA West 2 boys high school basketball action Tuesday.
“We played really good defensively, but they got some really easy baskets and it shifted momentum to them,” Bulldogs coach Aaron Riforgiato said. “Going into halftime, they went on a run and they kept that momentum the rest of the game. The closest we trimmed it down to was four, but every time we trimmed it down they kept putting it up back to eight.”
Brad Nelson of Frewsburg (4-4, 2-1) tied Brocton’s Ronald Brown for the game scoring lead, each player netting 17 points. Quinn Conlan had 15 points for the Bears while Riley Rivera scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Brocton’s leading rebounder was Charles Rexford with eight boards, while fellow Bulldog Hunter Rizzo had three steals. No non-scoring statistics were available for Frewsburg.
Brocton has another CCAA West 2 contest for its next game, Thursday at Clymer. The Bears play Southwestern on Saturday in a non-league game.
