Gators grab home win against Gowanda

OBSERVER Staff Report

ALLEGANY — A quick start by the Allegany-Limestone Gators (7-3, 2-1)was enough to put the Gowanda Panthers (8-2, 2-1) away, 54-48, in CCAA Division 1 East boys basketball.

“(Allegany-Limestone) came out hungry and they were hitting their shots…,” Gowanda coach Rob Catalino said. “… That put us in a 14-point hole. We just weren’t cohesive tonight — offensively and defensively — and they took advantage of that. … I give (the Gators) a lot of credit.”

John Ryan led the Panthers in scoring with 18, while Nate Brawdy and Matias Rikka followed with 11 points apiece.

“We’ve been struggling with injuries and sickness,” Catalino said. “We got a few guys back tonight, but it’s going to take some time to get them back and we cant afford to drop another game. I’m hoping to get everybody back sometime next week if we can.”

Gowanda’s next game will be held Monday, at home, against Randolph.
