Maple Grove keeps Fredonia winless in divisional play
Truman Purslow scored 16 points and Carson Crist added 15 as Maple Grove (4-2, 1-1) held off Fredonia, 60-52, Tuesday night in a CCAA West 1 high school boys basketball game.
The foul line proved decisive as the Red Dragons made 20-of-31 attempts while Fredonia (1-6, 0-3) was 12-of-19. Simon Olson and Purslow each made six connections from the charity stripe for the winners.
Maple Grove led, 31-21, at halftime as Crist had 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Purslow contributed seven points.
Fredonia got within three points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t take the lead.
Nate Stewart scored a game-high 19 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds for the Hillbillies.
Purslow snared nine rebounds for the Red Dragons.
