OBSERVER Staff Report

SOUTH DAYTON — Pine Valley combined strong defense with efficient shooting to come away with a 61-22 victory over North Collins in a CCAA Division 2 East boys basketball matchup on Thursday.

Pine Valley (5-4, 2-1) jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the first quarter, highlighted by transition baskets created by strong defense, according to Pine Valley coach Chris Buczek. With a 39-11 lead at halftime, the Panthers faced little adversity in the second half en route to the victory.

Stephan Crisanti led the Panthers with 19 points, along with eight rebounds and four steals.

“Crisanti always works hard to be in great position,” said Buczek.

Zach Mansfield added 11 points for Pine Valley, along with team highs with seven steals and five assists.

“He was the floor general for us,” said Buczek. “He put us in great position to score easy baskets all night.”

Next up, Pine Valley takes on Clymer at Forestville High School on Saturday. North Collins (4-8, 1-2) takes on Franklinville at home on Tuesday.
