PORTVILLE — The Silver Creek Black Knights upended the Portville Panthers, 72-59, in a CCAA East 1 high school boys basketball game Friday.

“It definitely feels better taking an hour and half bus ride home after a win than a loss,” Silver Creek coach Rob Genco said.

The Black Knights (12-4, 4-3) were led by Dominic Jamison’s 22 points and Braeden Woleben’s 17 points and 14 rebounds. Jarmani Benton also had a big game for Silver Creek, with 17 points and 11 assists.

With illnesses ravaging the Knights varsity team, Genco moved Andre Rosario up from the junior varsity squad Friday, and he responded with 14 points.

“The guys did a really nice job… the guys were knocking down shots early,” Genco said. “Portville fought really hard and got themselves in striking distance. Andre Rosario hit three threes of the bench in the second quarter and Dominic Jamison had a big game with six threes.

“Jarmani Benton gets it done the hard way underneath. We were a steady dose of inside and outside,” Genco added.

The top scorers for Portville (4-11, 0-5) were Caden Keim with 17 points and Brendan Tobola with 13 points.

Silver Creek continues CCAA East 1 play on Tuesday when it hosts Salamanca.

BROCTON — The Clymer Pirates squeaked by the Brocton Bulldogs in a CCAA West 2 boys basketball game Friday night.

“We had a six-point lead at halftime,” Brocton coach Aaron Riforgiato said. “Third quarter came around and (Clymer) went on a run, fourth quarter was back and forth. They got a basket, we couldn’t get a shot off, and that was that. … We turned it over with a second left on the clock.”

Riforgiato said Brocton was hindered by the loss of Charles Rexford in the first quarter to an ankle injury.

Ronald Brown led all scorers with 25 points for Brocton (1-15, 0-9). He also had 10 rebounds. Hunter Rizzo added eight points for the Bulldogs.

Clymer (7-11, 3-7) got 20 points from Jordan Wade, along with 13 points and 10 rebounds from Dustin Neckers and five steals from Zavon Overton.

Brocton is back in action Tuesday at Westfield, while Clymer hosts Frewsburg that day. Both games are CCAA West 2 divisional matchups.

PANAMA — Tom Delahoy had 14 points and eight rebounds as Panama hung on for a 57-54 CCAA West 2 win over Westfield.

The Panthers (9-8, 7-3) led, 50-37, after three quarters before a 17-7 fourth quarter from the Wolverines (9-6, 5-4) made things close.

Jack Sperry led Panama with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while Mitch Hovey added 11 points and seven assists. Cameron Barmore pulled down 11 rebounds.

Ryan Jafarjian led Westfield with 17 points while Andrew Baribeau had 13 points and nine rebounds.

ALLEGANY — Allegany-Limestone defeated the Gowanda Panthers in a CCAA East 1 boys basketball matchup Friday.

Panthers coach Rob Catalino said the Gators held a narrow lead most of the game. “It was a three-point game at the half and a four-point lead at the end of the third quarter,” he said. “We got it down to one a couple times, we just couldn’t get over the hump.”

Nate Brawdy led Gowanda (12-4, 5-3) with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Allegany-Limestone 912-4, 6-2) got 23 points out of Sam Flanders.

The Panthers’ next game is at CCAA East 1 leader Randolph on Tuesday.
