Krasnek gets second at SUNYAC meet
BUFFALO — Fredonia sophomore Christian Krasnek finished second in men’s 3-meter springboard diving on the opening day of the 2018 SUNYAC Swimming & Diving championship meet.
Krasnek scored 523.20 points for 11 dives (he had a score of 544.25 in the preliminary round) to finish behind Geneseo’s Samuel Randall, who had a winning score of 584.70 points. Blue Devil freshman Patrick McCormick finished seventh with a finals score of 392.70 points (401.55 during preliminaries).
Krasnek’s score was an NCAA Division III zone qualifying total and resulted in his best finish at a SUNYAC meet.
In the only swimming meet on Wednesday, Fredonia finished fifth in both the men’s and women’s 800-yard freestyle relays. The men’s quartet of senior Graham Jones, senior Bill Bradley (Dunkirk), sophomore Pat Woods, and senior Nathan Link touched out at 7:04.50 — nearly 17 seconds faster than their qualifying time and one of the fastest times in the event in Fredonia men’s history.
In the women’s race, sophomore Alyson Baumann, senior Taylor Chwalinski, freshman Erin Kalsman, and sophomore Sam Angrignon timed out in 8:09.68 — an improvement of just over 20 seconds from their qualifying time.
“We are very happy,” Fredonia Head Coach Arthur Wang said, “with the performances of the relays in the 800 free tonight. … Both results are great indicators of what times are to come.”
