Lady Marauders defeat Falconer

The Dunkirk Lady Marauders beat the Falconer Lady Falcons, 73-63, Saturday afternoon in a CCAA West 1 matchup at Dunkirk High School.

Kymi Nance was top scorer for Dunkirk (6-10, 3-6) with 16 points despite getting four fouls in the first half. Lady Marauders coach Darnell Baldwin said Nance’s ability to get, and finish, open looks down low kept the team’s momentum going in a close game.

“We are playing defense better,” the coach added. “Our defense has improved drastically over the last three weeks. It helps us control the tempo of the game.”

Jessica Beehler added 15 points and seven assists for Dunkirk, while Nadara O’Dell contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. The Lady Marauders’ Amari Carter had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Sarah Disbro led Falconer (4-12, 0-9) with 18 points, while Chelsey Vincent scored 16 and Ava Fenton scored 11 for the Lady Falcons.

The contest was rescheduled twice to due to illnesses on the Falconer team.

Dunkirk’s next game is at home Monday against Southwestern. Falconer’s next game is also a CCAA West 1 league game on Monday, in Mayville against Chautauqua Lake.
