Marauders close regular season by beating Hutch-Tech
BUFFALO — Even though the regular season technically ended Thursday, the Dunkirk Marauders boys’ high school basketball team managed to squeeze in a 90-86 win over Hutch-Tech on Saturday, in a make-up of a snowed-out contest.
Devaun Farnham poured in 35 points for Dunkirk, which closed the regular season with a 14-6 record. He added six assists. Tyrese Kristan-Johnson had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Marauders.
“Offensively we really took care of the basketball and took it right to the basket,” Dunkirk coach Andrew Krenzer said. “Kristan-Johnson ended up with only 16 (points), but they were a very hard-fought 16.”
There were several lead changes in the back-and-forth game, which saw Hutch-Tech take a five-point lead into halftime. That lead would have been eight, but freshman jayvee callup Ennuel Barreto hit a three-pointer for Dunkirk at the first-half buzzer, Krenzer said.
Anthony Mitchell led Hutch-Tech’s scorers with 20 points.
