Tarnowski gets college softball pitching award

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Fredonia High School graduate Baylee Tarnowski of the Allegheny College softball team was named the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Pitcher of the Week for her performances in a pair of wins this past weekend.

For the weekend, the junior went 2-0 as the Gators opened their 2018 campaign with a 3-1 record. On Friday, Tarnowski made her first career start against SUNY Potsdam. In a complete game, Tarnowski allowed just two hits and two runs with one walk while striking out six batters as the Gators won, 4-2.

Tarnowski got her second start of the weekend a day later against St. Joseph’s College. Once again, Tarnowski threw a complete game, allowing five hits and zero runs with a pair of strikeouts as the Gators picked up an 8-0, six-inning win.

Over the two wins, she turned in a 1.08 ERA in 13 innings, with eight strikeouts against just one walk. Opposing batters hit just .156 against her.
