The Annual NYS-HGC Grappling Championship, promoted by Norman Yonkers’ Karate Connection MMA, was held on April 7 at Fredonia Central School. This event has been running since 2004 in Fredonia and attracts competitors from all over the U.S. and Canada. The Karate Connection is located at 168 Cushing St., Fredonia. Karate Connection competitors (pictured left to right) and their wins in the tournament: Norman Yonkers (promoter), Riley Mourer (8-10 Absolute Champion, Gi 1st, No-Gi 1st, Heavyweight No-Gi 3rd), Shane Mourer (Gi 4th, No-Gi 4th) and Pauly Tabone (Superfight Champion, Gi 3rd, No-Gi 1st). Missing from picture: Adam Sellari (Gi 2nd).
