Silver Creek going to Class C final

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Black Knights dispatched Randolph, 6-3, Thursday in a Section VI Class C high school baseball semifinal.

Tom Galfo got the win for the Black Knights, pitching five innings, striking out three, walking four, and giving up three hits. Spencer Harford hiurled the last two innings, allowing no walks and just one hit.

Silver Creek scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second and two in the fourth. Randolph scored its three runs in the fifth inning.

“Galfo threw the first four innings and was in total control, giving up no runs,” Silver Creek coach Mike Janisch said. “In the fifth inning, Randolph got a couple runners on, and with two throwing errors on the same play, scored a couple runs. (Galfo) then wiggled himself out of the inning with a strikeout and a popout.”

Steve Romanik hit a double for Silver Creek while Galfo had three singles and an RBI .Silver Creek’s Sam Mullen recorded two singles and an RBI.

The Black Knights will play in the Class C final against Allegany-Limestone on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Jamestown.
