Messina leads Bombers 14U to victory

Dunkirk’s Phil Messina wasted no opportunities at the plate on Friday, driving in six on three hits to lead AnJo Bombers 14U past Cincinnati Baseball Club — Red 14U, 13-1, on Friday. Messina drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the fifth and a double in the sixth.

AnJo Bombers 14U secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive was led by Nathan Johnson, Gavyn Boyle, Messina and Noah Hardy, all driving in runs in the inning.

AnJo Bombers 14U fired up the offense in the first inning. Messina drove in one when he singled.

AnJo Bombers 14U tallied seven runs in the sixth inning. Johnson, Boyle, Messina and Hardy all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Gabe Schrader, of Fredonia, led things off on the hill for AnJo Bombers 14U. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out one and walking one.

Brody Huffman toed the rubber for Cincinnati Baseball Club – Red 14U. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Evan Edwards and Kurt Thompson entered the game as relief, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.

AnJo Bombers 14U racked up 12 hits in the game. Messina and Johnson all managed multiple hits for AnJo Bombers 14U. Messina went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead AnJo Bombers 14U in hits. AnJo Bombers 14U didn’t commit a single error in the field. Nathan Lee had four chances in the field, the most on the team.
