Fredonia girls swim team tops Gowanda
GOWANDA — The Fredonia Hillbillies girls swim team racked up another victory on the season on Tuesday, defeating the Gowanda Panthers by a score of 81-10.
Julia Fortna topped the 200 yard freestyle and Brooke D’Agostino won the 200 individual medley to lead the Lady Hillbillies to victory. Mackenzie Quinn won the 50 freestyle and Jenna Truby also won the 100 butterfly event for the Hillbillies.
Fredonia (4-0) will swim again on Tuesday when they host Frewsburg at 5 p.m.
Southwestern 119, Chautauqua Lake 66
MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Lake girls swim team dropped a match in their home pool on Tuesday, falling to the Southwestern Trojans by a score of 119-66.
After dropping the 200 yard medley relay and the 200 freestyle, the Thunderbirds struggled to gain any traction against the high-powered Trojan’s team.
Chautauqua Lake did get a win in the 100 freestyle when sophomore Ani Duffee touched down with a time of 1:12.27.
Sophomore Amelia Brown placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:29.76.
The Lady Thunderbirds will swim again on Thursday when they travel to Salamanca with a 5 p.m. start.
