‘Golf Fore a Cure’ raised over $4,000

The 2018 Wednesday Night Ladies’ League and the Cassadaga Country Club held their annual Breast Cancer “Golf Fore a Cure” tournament in July. A total of 88 golfers participated in two sessions with a four person scramble format. The big winner for the day of course was the over $4,000 raised for breast cancer research at Roswell Park Cancer Center. The low scoring overall team was Team Frost with members, Dick and Donna Frost, and Sean and Michelle Helmer. Overall women’s team winner was Team Ulrich with members Deb Ulrich, Kay Pagano, Erin Frederickson, and Ashlyn Revenew.

Second place teams were: Team Hoffman consisting of Mike and Jody Hoffman and Brad and Melissa Kelly. Placing 2nd for the women was Team Waterman with Judy Waterman, Jeanette Pchelka, Sue Johnson, and Nancy Phillips. Third place team was Team Dubois which was made up of Gene Dubois, Lisa Lutgen, Marcus Lutgen and Ralph Johnson.

Every year the tournament includes a fun atmosphere, healthy competition, and a huge collaboration between our Wednesday Night Ladies’ League and the Cassadaga Country Club, community businesses, and community members.

Other notable awards went to: Gloria Horton, closest to the pin on No. 6 for the ladies, closest to the pin on No. 8 for the men – Hugh Graves. Longest drive went to Cindy Chimera for the Women and CJ Anson for the men. There was also only one uncontested skin won by Team Frost. Many of our cash prize winners generously donated back all or portions of their winnings to be included with our contribution to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Many of the team and individual award winners donated all or a portion of their winnings back to the proceeds to be donated to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Chinese auction items were donated by Ladies’ league members, and businesses. Hole sponsorships continue to be a large portion of monies earned, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the following individuals or businesses. The Wednesday Night Ladies’ League has been sponsoring a Breast Cancer tournament for over twelve years. This year’s Women’s team winners participants were two breast cancer survivors. Your sponsorships, donations, and participation have indeed made an impact right here in our area.
