PV’s Snyder scores four goals in win

SOUTH DAYTON — Pine Valley’s Ryan Snyder missed most of his junior soccer season because of an injury. He vowed he would return for his senior season in 2018 to make up for lost time.

On Friday, he certainly did that — and then some.

Snyder scored four goals in Friday’s 5-0 Pine Valley win over Falconer/Cassadaga Valley in non-league varsity boys soccer action.

“He had an awesome game,” said Pine Valley coach David Pihlblad. “He really wants to make up for last year.”

Dawson Chase scored the first goal for Pine Valley on a penalty kick eight minutes into the contest. From then on, it was all Snyder. In the 32nd minute, Snyder scored his first goal, assisted by Wayne Libby.

With a 2-0 halftime lead, Snyder began to pour it on in the second half. Eight minutes into the second half, Snyder scored on a pass from Evan Frontuto. Then, in the 16th minute of the second half, Snyder recorded the hat trick on a goal set up by a goalkeeper’s punt by Ryan’s brother, Makiah Snyder. He capped off his four-goal performance with four minutes remaining in the contest, assisted by Curtis Goodwill.

“Ryan is unbelievably fast,” said Pihlblad. “He really had a great day for us.”

Pine Valley is in action again next week, when the Panthers travel to Franklinville on Thursday.
