Cougars win over Hornets in four sets

FORESTVILLE — Cassadaga Valley traveled to Forestville for Section VI volleyball action on Friday and came away with a win, defeating the Hornets in four sets, 23-25, 25-22, 25-10, 25-10.

The Cougars dropped their first set to the Hornets, narrowly losing 23-25. Cassadaga Valley bounced back after their opening loss, and went on to win the next three sets 25-22, 25-10 then 25-10 again.

The Cougars were led by Katrinah Bretl with 11 kills, four aces and five digs; Heidi Williams with seven kills and eight aces; Brooke Repine with four kills, four aces and five digs; and Kaitlyn Dahl with 23 assists.

Forestville saw notable performances by Sylvia Cleary with three kills and four digs, and Rhianna Nasal with 17 assists and two kills.

Cassadaga Valley improved to 11-5 overall and 9-3 in the league. They will host Brocton/Westfield for their senior night on Tuesday. Forestville fell to 4-12 overall and 4-8 in league play. They are home on Tuesday for their annual Spike Out Cancer game against Fredonia.
