Silver Creek blanks Cassadaga Valley

SILVER CREEK — Silver Creek hosted Cassadaga Valley in their final Section VI girls soccer matchup of the season, at Silver Creek high school on Thursday. The Black Knights controlled a majority of the game, generating plenty of opportunities at goal. They got all the scoring they needed early in the first half with an unassisted goal from Carly Barrett in the 10th minute.

Cassadaga Valley’s keeper Isabella Ruiz did a great job of keeping her team in the game providing 26 saves on 28 shots.

The Black Knights added an insurance goal in the second half, as Kylie Procknal with an assist from Emma Rice found a way to beat Ruiz in the 25th minute of the second half.

“We controlled much of the play and possession for the whole game, we were able to control the midfield, just couldn’t finish enough,” stated coach Rice.

Silver Creek finished their season 13-3 overall and 9-3 in the division.The Black Knights will host a sectional tournament playoff game next Wednesday.
