‘Billies keep on rolling, win over Olean, 98-76
OLEAN — The Fredonia Hillbillies boys swim team picked up their third win of the year on Thursday, this time beating Olean in the pool by a score of 98-76.
Fredonia’s Bill Osuna won the 200 yard IM as well as the 100 backstroke to give the Hillbillies a solid performance on the night. Tyler Donahue also had a good night, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle races.
“Tyler’s senior leadership has been invaluable this year,” said Fredonia coach Bob Ball. “He won two individual events as well as two relays tonight and he’s been a big reason why were off to a 3-0 start.”
Matt Brockelbank swam his personal best in the 100 breaststroke, capping his time at 1:12.79.
The 200 medley relay was won by Fredonia with Osula, Finn Frerichs, Matthew Brockelbank and Ronan Murphy at a time of 1:56.30. The 400 freestyle was also won by Fredonia, with Donahue, Osula, Frerichs and Aaron Pacos headlining the event.
“This is the first time we’ve been off to a 3-0 start in I don’t know how long,” said Coach Ball. “It’s exciting.”
Fredonia (3-0) will swim again on Thursday when they travel to Frewsburg.
