Blue Devils’ Tracy wins SUNYAC weekly honor

CORTLAND — The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen this weeks Men’s Ice Hockey Athletes of the week. The Goaltender of the Week is Geneseo’s Devin McDonald, the Rookie of the Week is Plattsburgh’s Christian DiFelice, and the Player of the Week is Fredonia’s Victor Tracy.

McDonald, the Geneseo goaltender, produced two shutout wins over two SUNYAC opponents for the Knights during the week. Against Cortland he totaled 17 saves on 17 shots in a 2-0 win for Geneseo. McDonald totaled 17 saves once again in the second game against No. 6 Oswego as Geneseo went on to win 3-0. He is tied for the Division III lead with a 10-1-1 record, while he is ranked first with six shutouts. McDonald is also second with .91 goals against average and fourth with a .952 save percentage.

Plattsburgh’s freshman forward, DiFelice, posted three points in two games during a 1-1-0 week for the Cardinals. He scored his first collegiate goal and tallied two assists in Plattsburgh’s 7-0 win over Buffalo State. In the next game against Fredonia he had one shot on goal, Plattsburgh was defeated 3-2.

The Player of the Week, Victor Tracy, had one goal and three assists as Fredonia won two SUNYAC matchups and extended their unbeaten streak to eight straight games. He assisted on two goals in first game against Potsdam, as Fredonia went on to win 4-2. Tracy came up big in the second game against Plattsburgh, scoring the game-winning goal and adding one assist. His goal came with 38.5 seconds remaining to give Fredonia the 3-2 win.
