Dunkirk girls pick up road win at Wilson

WILSON — The Dunkirk Marauders girls basketball team stay undefeated on the season on Monday, topping Wilson 62-41 in a non-league contest at Wilson High School.

The Lady Marauders used a big game from Kymi Nance, who piled up 19 points to help Dunkirk secure the win.

“This was a good win,” said Dunkirk head coach Ken Ricker. “Wilson always plays at Buffalo State to end the year — it’s a program built for the long haul. So to come up here and get a road win was nice for us.”

The Marauders came out strong in the opening frame, going up 14-5 and then 25-14 at halftime. Missed free throws and a couple missed layups kept Wilson in the game, but ultimately Dunkirk was able to pull away in the fourth quarter after a big 21-10 quarter.

Nadara O’Dell scored ten of her 12 points in the second half and also contributed with 15 rebounds for the Marauders. Amari Carter finished with six points and nine rebounds.

“We wanted to come test ourselves and we got that tonight,” added Ricker.

Dunkirk (6-0) will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Tapestry Charter, who they beat earlier this season.
