Thunderbirds top Panama, 69-61

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Lake boys basketball team earn their third win of the season on Tuesday, topping Panama 69-61 in non-league action.

Alex Gleason was a stud for the Thunderbirds, coming off of the bench proving a spark for his team and scoring 18 points while shooting 70 percent from the field. Zach Fischer also had a great night for the Thunderbirds scoring 20 points of his own.

The game went back and forth all night and key free throws down the stretch were key in Chautauqua Lake securing the victory.

“Alex Gleason came off the bench and put together one of the best performances I’ve seen,” said Chautauqua Lake head coach Mike Putney. “Zach Fischer hit some big free throws down the stretch and Trey Sauerland played good defense for us all game.”

Chautauqua Lake (3-0) will return to action when they play Westfield on Thursday.
