Dunkirk falls to Olean

OLEAN — Sara Pfeiffer poured in 47 points, including 18 in the fourth quarter, to lift Olean to a 68-56 victory over Dunkirk in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls basketball game Thursday night.

“Sarah is just a different talent,” Lady Marauders coach Ken Ricker said. “She’ll be the first to say she shot it poorly and she still scored 47. She’s a seriously efficient scorer, which makes her different.”

Dunkirk (9-4, 1-4) led 18-12 after the first quarter and left for the locker room tied with the Huskies, 31-all, at halftime. The Lady Marauders regained the lead, 46-45, after three periods, only to have Olean finish the game on a 23-10 run with Pfeiffer doing most of the damage.

“In the second half, we weren’t able to find her enough,” Ricker said.

Kymi Nance led Dunkirk with 24 points, Nadara Odell had 13 rebounds, Amari Carter grabbed eight boards, Jessica Beehler had five assists and Olivia Smith collected three steals.
