Dunkirk’s Mayor Rosas announces Winter Youth Basketball League

For the third year in a row, the City of Dunkirk will be hosting a youth basketball league to include a clinic followed by three weeks of games.

Mayor Wilfred Rosas said, “Providing an opportunity for the youth of the city to learn and enjoy the game of basketball is just one more way to encourage a positive and community centered attitude. Our Youth and Recreation Department has put together a program that will allow for children in grades 3-6 to develop their basketball skills, learn the importance of teamwork, and socialize in a positive and productive environment. I would also like to thank the Dunkirk City Schools for their support and the use of their facility for this event. Special recognition is also given to Ryan Hall, our Youth and Recreation Coordinator for putting this program together; he continually seeks new and exciting programs for the City’s youth to enjoy.”

The basketball league will take place at the Dunkirk Middle School beginning Jan. 14 and ending Feb. 6. The fee for participating in the league is $25. For more information and to sign up, contact the City of Dunkirk Recreation Office at (716) 366-9885.
