Pine Valley comes back to win, 41-39

SOUTH DAYTON — Lyric Westlund scored eight of her team-high 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Pine Valley Panthers girls basketball team came from behind to beat the Westfield-Brocton Wolverines, 41-39 in non-league action on Wednesday.

Delanie Tunstall had nine points and five rebounds while Payton Swanson added eight points of her own for Pine Valley.

Pine Valley entered the fourth quarter down by 14 points, but erupted for a 22-point quarter to squeak by the Wolverines.

“Our defense got after it in the fourth quarter,” said Pine Valley head coach Mark Mansfield. “It was definitely a good thing to see.”

For Westfield-Brocton, Sophia DeMarco had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks while Laura Johnston added six points and four steals.

Pine Valley (3-10, 0-5) will be back in action on Friday against Catt./Little Valley while Westfield-Brocton will play Clymer, also on Friday.
