Blue Devils top Morrisville, 3-2

Special to The OBSERVER

MORRISVILLE — Fredonia won its next-to-last game of the regular season Friday, 3-2, over SUNYAC men’s hockey opponent Morrisville State.

Successive goals by Luke Rivera, Colin Valentine, and Victor Tracy erased a 1-0 Fredonia deficit. Rivera’s and Tracy’s goals came on power plays.

Eric Bogart was called on to make just 15 saves while posting his 10th win of the season (10-5-1). The Blue Devils improved to 13-7-4 overall and 7-6-2 in the SUNYAC.

Jimmy Philbin and Nick DeVito had the Morrisville goals. Jared Young made 27 saves. The Mustangs are 4-18-2 overall and 2-12-1 in the conference.

One week after giving up 30 shots in the first period vs. Plattsburgh, the Blue Devils kept the Mustangs in check Friday. They took just 17 shots in the entire game, just four in the second period.

The regular season concludes Saturday afternoon when the Blue Devils and Mustangs complete their weekend series. Faceoff is 4 p.m.

The Blue Devils are guaranteed the No. 5 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and a first-round game next Wednesday at Buffalo State. Brockport plays at Plattsburgh in the other first-round game.
