The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds and Maple Grove Lady Red Dragons square off this Friday in CCAA West 1 girls high school basketball. Halftime activities will benefit cystic fibrosis research. Jayvee is slated for 6 p.m. and varsity will follow, roughly around 7:30 p.m. in the Chautauqua Lake competition gym. Team members researched the chronic disease, which touched a local family last year. The Thunderbird Athletic Club will conduct a raffle and 50/50 drawing, while student athletes and their families hold a bake sale and halftime games. Proceeds will support the search for a cure to cystic fibrosis, a genetic lung disorder that affects the pancreas and other organs, as well as providing information on how to treat and live with this chronic disease.
