Narcan administered to woman in Pomfret
Sheriff’s deputies were called to an undisclosed location in the town of Pomfret around 2 a.m. this morning for a report of an unresponsive woman. Upon arrival deputies located a 48-year-old female, whose name was not released, and administered the Narcan drug before emergency medical service workers arrived. Narcan, sometimes called Naloxone, blocks or reverses the effects of opioid drugs such as heroin, for symptoms including extreme drowsiness, slowed breathing, or loss of consciousness. It is used to treat a narcotic overdose in an emergency situation and often is used to save someone’s life.
The woman became responsive and was transported to Lake Shore Hospital by the Fredonia Fire Department.
