UPDATED: Travel advisory for Dunkirk lifted

At 6:13 p.m. on Saturday, the Dunkirk City Police lifted the travel advisory, which had been in place since 10 a.m.

Dunkirk City Police added, “Please continue to use caution while driving, as snow removal operations are still ongoing. Thank you for your cooperation.”

Dunkirk City Police has released the following statement: “At this time, the city of Dunkirk is issuing a Travel Advisory. Due to deteriorating weather, road and travel conditions, the City of Dunkirk Police Department is recommending no unnecessary travel at this time. Residents are reminded to please keep vehicles off the roadways in order to assist with snow removal operations and to allow emergency vehicle travel. Residents are also reminded to adhere to alternate parking regulations to further assist with snow removal. Thank you for your cooperation.”

The Fredonia Police Department issued its own travel advisory at 1:15 p.m., with the following press release: “As a result of today’s heavy snowfall, the Fredonia Police Department has issued a travel advisory for motorists. When the weather subsides, the advisory will be lifted.”
