Buffalo man charged in Evans armed robbery

EVANS — A Buffalo man has been taken into custody following an armed robbery Sunday night in the town of Evans.

According to the Evans Police Department, shortly before 8 p.m. a Lake Shore Road resident reported that a male wearing a ski mask had entered the residence unlawfully and was attacking her husband with a gun.

Following an investigation Angel Reyes, 49, was arrested and taken into custody. He allegedly had a silver and black BB gun and a box containing money. Police said he also was wearing a ski mask.

K-9 deputies from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist at the scene.

The victim was transported to Lake Shore Hospital for treatment of injuries, which are non-life threatening.

Reyes was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of second-degree assault.

Reyes was arraigned in Evans Town Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center without bail.

Evans Police believe that Reyes and the victim are familiar with each other and that this was an isolated incident.

The case remains under investigation.
