Wanted Jamestown man captured in Ellicott

At about 2:20 a.m. this morning, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies on patrol observed a known wanted subject leave a business operating a vehicle.

Deputies stopped the vehicle on Howard Avenue in the town of Ellicott. The operator was confirmed to be Andrew L. Nygren, 23, of Jamestown.

Nygren was wanted by the state of Pennsylvania on a probation violation charge. Nygren was also operating the vehicle on a suspended New York license. Further investigation led to a search of the vehicle with Sheriff’s K9 Link, who did alert to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. In a concealed compartment in the vehicle interior, deputies located drug paraphernalia and a quantity of methamphetamine.

Nygren was charged with criminal possession of controlled substance 7th degree, aggravated unlicensed operator 3rd degree, and no/inadequate sideview mirror. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail with bail set on these charges, and held without bail as a fugitive.
