Traffic stop in Gerry leads to drug charges against three

GERRY — Three county residents were arrested following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of drugs in Gerry on Thursday.

New York State troopers out of Jamestown pulled over a vehicle on Gerry-Ellington Road for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, troopers observed syringes, a tray containing methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle in plain view.

Those inside the vehicle were Brandi Howard, 38, of Sinclairville, Todd Witt, 40, of Stockton who was driving, and Gary Warren, 26, of Jamestown. They were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene to assist with the investigation, which revealed that Witt’s license was suspended, that Howard was wanted by the city of Jamestown Police Department and that there was an active warrant for Warren for a violation of probation.

All three suspects were processed at State Police barracks in Jamestown and arraigned in Charlotte Town Court. All three suspects were then remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail and are scheduled to appear in Gerry Town Court next month to answer the charges.
