Man still hospitalized following two-week old assault

The Fredonia Police Department today announced it is still working on an apparent assault that occurred two weeks ago in the village.

In a news release, Police Chief Bradley C. Meyers announced they are currently investigating an assault that occurred during the overnight hours of July 20 to 21 in the area of 36 Water St. The victim was identified as William Hall Jr., 47, with no permanent address.

Meyers said they received a 911 call stating that Hall was in need of medical attention at the aforementioned location. Upon arrival of police and fire, Hall was unconscious. He was treated at the scene and transported by Fredonia Fire to Brooks Memorial Hospital for treatment. Hall was later transferred to Hamot Medical Center where he remains at this time.

Meyers said it appears Hall is the victim of an assault in which he received trauma to his head. Fredonia Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact the department at (716)679-1531.
