LAKEWOOD — A Lakewood man police say was under investigation for rape has been additionally charged with possessing child pornography.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office today announced the charges against 38-year-old Jeffrey L. Shriver. The investigation started after first-degree rape charges were leveled against Shriver on Sept. 13. According to the Sheriff’s Office, “allegations were made by another individual.”

“This investigation has since continued into a one month and a half long investigation into additional allegations as well as other charges being placed,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Police have not released details that led to the rape or subsequent charges.

However, as a result of the ongoing investigation, Shriver was additionally charged with four counts of possession an obscene sexual performance by a child.

Bail was set in Busti Town Court.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its investigation by the Chautauqua County Criminal Investigation Division, Chautauqua County S.W.A.T., Chautauqua County Forensic Investigation Team, the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Lakewood-Busti Police Department, Jamestown Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Shriver will be scheduled to appear back in the Town of Busti court at a later date.
