SMITHFIELD, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say one person was killed and two have been injured in a single-vehicle crash in upstate New York.
Troopers say 18-year-old Miller Wade was driving in Smithfield in Madison County when he drove off the shoulder and crashed into a tree Thursday. Police say a passenger, 23-year-old Trevor Rice of Oneida, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wade was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital with severe head trauma and was in critical condition Friday. Another passenger, 23-year-old Brett Moyer of Oneida, was taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
