Drop in any time to watch ornithologists capture migrating and resident birds, fit them with ID bands, measure, weigh, then release them. Free; donations appreciated.

US Coast Guard Auxiliary Dunkirk Flotilla 34 kick-off of National Safe Boating Week, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dunkirk Boat Launch. Free vessel safety checks on boats, kayaks offered. Register to take part in the Ready, Set, Wear It! lifejacket campaign at any time. Bring your lifejacket. Be fitted, registered to count in the total to help break the International record. Lifejackets provided for those who don’t have one. At 2 p.m., group photo with inflatable life vests will be taken.

Fredonia Food Pantry, 10 a.m. to noon, Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave. Serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, zip code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food, given out depending on family size.

Free Rabies Immunization Clinic for dogs, cats, domestic ferrets, 10 a.m. to noon, Town of Westfield Highway Building, 118 Chestnut St. Animals must be healthy and accompanied by adult. Audubon Nature Play Day, 10 a.m. to noon, Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. Free. Ages two to eight, adults required to stay with children. Dress in clothes and footwear that can get wet and dirty. Guests may want to bring an extra change of clothes or a towel for the car ride home. In case of severe weather, program will be cancelled; call 569-2345 to confirm. A naturalist will be available to answer questions and provide information.

Audubon Annual Plant Exchange and Sale, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. Bring extra plants to trade for new ones or bring cash to purchase plants. Wide variety, including natives, from Audubon’s gardens as well as some donated by local nurseries. Plants to be traded must be of a non-invasive variety, in pots or containers (not plastic bags), in good condition. Label plants with names.
