King Day proclaimed in city

Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas proclaimed Saturday as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the city. Rosas’ proclamation coincides with the annual luncheon, which is sponsored by the Juneteenth Celebration Commitee that has the theme of “Together We Can Create Change.”

The event, which was scheduled to take place Monday, was rescheduled for Saturday due to the weather.

Scrapbooking event set for Feb. 5

GOWANDA — The Spanish Club of Gowanda High School, Prospect Street, is hosting a scrapbooking crop fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. The fee is $40 and includes a space to scrapbook, use of a cricut, lunch, dinner, vendors, great company, and a chance to win scrapbooking prizes. If you wish to attend, but cannot stay for dinner, the cost is $30. To attend, please notify Ashley Wright (mswright@gcslearn.org) by Friday, Jan. 28 at the latest. Please include name, phone number, and if you are staying for dinner.

You can choose to pay the day of the event or submit payment by cash or check made out to Gowanda Spanish Club to the attention of Ms. Wright at GHS. You will need a mask to enter the building and COVID protocols are being followed. Proceeds will support the club’s trip abroad.
