Alumni take first at firemen’s convention

The Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps of WNY recently took top honors at this year’s Southwestern Firemen’s Convention in Cattaraugus. The Alumni color guard also took top honors and was presented with a trophy for its first place performance. Business manager Jack Kujawa stated, “We’ve been busy all year long. We’ve performed in seven parades so far, with four remaining before our end of season banquet on Oct. 1. After our banquet, we’ll begin our recruiting program.” Corps Director Bob Teclaw added, “We’ve had great turnouts all season long and we expect to be bigger and better next season. Perhaps some drum corps vets will be returning along with newcomers.” Anybody interested in being a part of next year’s Alumni family can contact Jack at 410-2682. Upcoming Corps events: Fredonia Farm Festival Parade Aug. 28, Cassadaga Labor Day Parade Sept. 3, Seneca Nation Fall Festival Parade Sept. 10, Silver Creek Festival of Grapes Sept. 18. Come down and support the only drum corps in Chautauqua County, The Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps.
