Drum circle/meditation scheduled today in Cassadaga

CASSADAGA – A drum circle/meditation will be held today at 7 p.m. at 60 on 60 in Cassadaga. The event will be facilitated by Craig “Duke” Thomson, ordained minister, spiritual counselor (readings), Reiki master (healer), drumming facilitator. The environment will be alcohol free and drug free. Some drums are provided. Call 988-5069 for details.

Thomson has listed 10 good reasons for drumming.

10. It’s entertainment. People always complain there’s nothing to do – or – nowhere to go. 9. It brings people together. Have you ever heard that strangers are only friends you haven’t met yet? 8. Drumming is a tool, bridge or device to open our senses of sound: smell, sight, touch and yes … our sixth sense. 7. Drumming is a healing of mind, body, spirit and emotions. A virtual message of vibration and energy. 6. You can drum by yourself anytime or anywhere – or with anyone.

5. Drumming is a way of giving back our positive energy to our environment. 4. Drumming can help us to learn something “new” once again. Experience is the best teacher. 3. Drumming can calm us and reduce stress, center ourselves and ground us. 2. Drumming connects us to the totality of all there is … our connection to nature. 1. Drumming is fun. It’s OK to laugh and enjoy ourselves. It’s a change from the “same old – same old.”
