Lifelong resident is named grand marshal for annual Fredonia Farm Festival parade

The grand marshal for the Fredonia Farm Festival parade on Sunday at 1 p.m. is a familiar face to Fredonia resident.

Andrew K. Dyckes was born on Nov. 30, 1959, the fourth of seven children to Jack and Jean Dyckes.

Dyckes is a lifelong resident of Fredonia, and an employee of The Resource Center since 1984. His assignment for the past 22 years has been as a cleaner in the Fredonia Central School District, a job he thoroughly enjoys!

As of result of his efforts at the school, Dyckes was honored by TRC in 2006, and again in 2009 when he was named the “William B. Joslin Performer of the Year” for his outstanding work ethic.

Well known around the village for volunteering for the Farmers Markets and various festivals, Dyckes was named the 2014 recipient of Fredonia Chamber of Commerce “Community Service Award,” an honor that he is very proud of.

If there is an event going on in town and help is needed you can count on Dyckes to be one of the first to volunteer!

When Dyckes is not working or volunteering he likes to spend time with his nieces and nephews, his dog Bingo and visit family members living out of town. He also spent a couple of years marching with the Chadwick Bay Buccaneers marching band. An avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, Dyckes also enjoys bowling when he gets a chance.

Dyckes said he is honored to be Grand Marshal of the 2016 Fredonia Farm Festival parade.
