The Auxiliary of the John T. Murray Post 1017 sets agenda

The Auxiliary of the John T. Murray Post 1017 recently met at the Post.

The Auxiliary will be going up to the Buffalo VA hospital with the Silver Creek Post. Members will take up baby afghans, lap afghans, puzzles, envelopes with stamps, writing paper and crossword books. Betty Tallchief donated money to purchase pop and munchies and anything else needed.

It was noted that President Pat Rabb took sweat pants and a package of socks to the Dunkirk schools for the pre-school in case of an accident. This was instead of school supplies.

A reminder was given to all Auxiliary members to vote on Nov. 8. It was noted that School 4 is having a barbecue that day and to please support it.

On Nov. 12, the Auxiliary will be having a goulash dinner, complete with salad, goulash and dessert, at the Post, located at 111-113 Deer St. Dunkirk. Veterans will receive a FREE dinner and others are $8. Meals will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., unless sold out before 7. There will be no takeouts available for this dinner. A basket and bike raffle will also be held. This is open to the public.

A motion was made to send $25 for Trees for Troops and it was carried. Auxiliary members gave reports on what they did and what they donated to so that Rabb could report to the Department.

A report on the Department fall conference will be made at the next meeting. Attending the conference were Rabb, Pat Kibbe and Robin Richmond. Rabb also attended the 6th district officers’ training school held in Pine Valley.

The Auxiliary is always looking for new members. Applications are available at the Post or by contacting Pat at 341-1328 for information. Auxiliary members that have not paid their dues are asked to pay before Dec. 30 to be in good standing. Otherwise, it is necessary to rejoin.

The next meeting will be Nov. 12, promptly at 2 p.m. All members are asked to be there. The Auxiliary Christmas party and Post and Auxiliary children’s Christmas party will be discussed. Those unable to attend are asked to contact Pat.
