SILVER CREEK – Four upperclassmen and one staff member of the Silver Creek Central School District were selected as Knights of the Month for November for embodying the character trait of gratefulness.

As defined by the Character Council of Western New York, the November Knights of the Month count the benefits rather than the burdens, show their family and friends they appreciate them, take care of their things and are content with what they have.

One classmate from each grade level at the high school and one staff member were chosen based on nominations received from the school community, their peers and colleagues. Each received a certificate and a $5 gift certificate to be spent at the student-run Knight’s Korner Store.

Twelfth-grader Nickolas Coggins, eleventh-grader Mariah Hamilton, tenth-grader Kristen Wielgasz, ninth-grader Morningstar Halftown and staff member Ginny Bonasera are Knights of the Month for November.

Students and one parent, community supporter or faculty member are nominated for the Knight of the Month accolade every 30 days for 10 months. Upcoming nominations will spotlight generosity, orderliness, forgiveness, sincerity, virtue, honor and justice.

The recipients and their families will be presented with certificates and pins at an upcoming Board of Education meeting.
