Silver Creek sets hearing for waterfront effort

SILVER CREEK — New York State re-wrote the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program law, reforming how jurisdiction for projects will work.

The program has been years in the making, and its purpose is to solidify creeks and lakeshores, previously giving the county jurisdiction over what can and can’t be assembled or altered, requiring things to be run past the village.

As it was going to happen, all nine municipalities would be under the cover of one blanket, but as it is now, each municipality can make decisions on their own. The county is still there to provide guidance, but it must now be done through it’s separate program.

The newly proposed law from Silver Creek, entitled Village of Silver Creek LWRP Consistency Review Law will not be passed until a public hearing is held Monday at 6:45 p.m.
