CIAO holds first meeting in months

The CIAO board met for the first time in more than 12 months to discuss plans for 2021.

With more people being fully vaccinated, the thought was to have CIAO’s annual picnic and meeting on Aug. 28 at noon in the Russell Joy Park lower pavilion.

As COVID regulations change quickly and more people are vaccinated, organization officials said they are confident the meeting and picnic can be held. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own place settings. CIAO will provide the sausage, rolls, condiments as well as water and coffee. More information will follow.

CIAO officials plan to have Peter LaJacano and hopefully the Italian consulate to speak to members. All are invited. Anyone interested in learning about Italian culture is welcome to attend. New members and guests are welcome.

On May 19, Sam Crisanti and Nance Ortolano were planning on participating in the CREATE Project Family Video series, “Italian Heritage and Traditions.” Crisanti is presenting information about his family and their traditions, especially the celebration of St. Joseph’s Day. Ortolano is cooking a quick Arancini with a narration of how she found her family in Sicily. Both will be televised on YouTube and on the CREATE website.

Those with suggestions for programs or activities can call Sam Crisanti at 934-2592 or Nance Ortolano at 673-9177.
