Dunkirk Fredonia Rotary Club Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue

The Rotary club, which assist the community with local needs, will hold a drive-through chicken barbecue meal from noon to 5 p.m. or sold out at the Forest Lodge 166, 321 E. Main St., Fredonia. The cost is $12.

COVID vaccination clinic

A drive-through vaccination clinic will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Chautauqua Lake Central School bus garage, 100 N. Erie St., Mayville. No appointments are needed, but pre-registration is available. Bring proper ID and wear a mask. Don’t bring pets.

Silver Creek Meet the Candidates dinner

The meet the candidates dinner will take place at 5 p.m. at the Firehouse on the Lake at the end of Jackson Street, Silver Creek. The $12 dinner includes a roast beef sandwich, chicken, pasta or potatoes, vegetable and a brownie. There will also be a basket raffle. Call Carol at 934-4209 for pre-sale tickets.

St. Joseph’s bingo

Bingo will take place at St. Joseph’s parish, 145 E. Main St., Fredonia. Doors open at 5 p.m.; bingo begins at 7. Masks should be worn by those not vaccinated and social distancing will be observed.

Villenova Burial Association annual fall meeting

The annual fall meeting of the Villenova Burial Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Villenova Town Hall, 1094 Butcher Road., South Dayton. Plan to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. This is a member meeting for anyone who owns a lot or has a family member buried in the Villenova Cemetery….as a member, you are a part of the VBA and responsible for the Cemetery’s future operation and upkeep. This meeting will also involve the election of Trustees for expiring Trustee terms and the yearly election of officers. The present Trustees of the VBA would greatly welcome your attendance at, and participation in, this meeting, as we work to preserve our 200+ year old cemetery!

1891 Fredonia Opera House Cinema Series

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House will present the documentary “On Broadway” at 7:30 p.m. As audiences prepare for the return of live theater after an unprecedented absence of 18 months, an all-star cast tells the inside story of the last time Broadway came back from the brink. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6.50 for Opera House members/seniors, $5 for students. At this time, ALL patrons are asked to wear masks when attending Opera House events.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Unused or expired prescription medication can be safely disposed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Alstar Ambulance, 738 Monroe St., Dunkirk; Westfield Family Physicians, 138 E. Main St., Westfield or Chautauqua Mall Parking Lot, 318 e. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood across from Aspire. The event is free and anonymous. Liquids and sharps will not be accepted.

Kinda Scared at the Fair

Partners in Kind of Chautauqua County is hosting adrive-through trick or treating event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vehicles will be looped through the back parking lot at the County Fairgrounds on Waldorf Road near Brigham Road in Dunkirk, with no visitors exiting their vehicle. Attendees can dress in costume as they come through the track and stop at the various stations (volunteers in kid-friendly costumes). Volunteers will place a variety of holiday treats through the car window. The event is free, but donations of any of the following items for local school food pantries are happily accepted: Uncrustables, Ramen cups, Spaghettio/Ravioli cups, Ez Mac cups,fruit cups, applesauce pouches, yogurt pouches, granola or breakfast bars, cereal cups, rice cups, mashed potato cups, vegetable cups, peanut butter and jelly (plastic containers), hot cocoa. instant twist top soups, deodorant, toothpaste/toothbrush combos, gently used hats and gloves. gallon ziplock bags for hats/gloves. No canned goods will be accepted. Items donated will be given to children who may be responsible for making their own meals, therefore only easy-open containers will be accepted.

Rabies vaccine

Live at the Met: Fire Shut Up in My Bones

1891 Fredonia Opera House, 1 p.m. General Admission $20, $18 Opera House Members, $10 Students. The first opera by a Black composer presented on the Met stage and featuring a libretto by filmmaker Kasi Lemmons, the opera tells a poignant and profound story about a young man’s journey to overcome a life of trauma and hardship.At this time, ALL patrons are asked to wear masks when attending Opera House events.

Cassadaga American Legion fund-raiser for Oshei’s Children’s Hospital

A Terry Buchwald concert will be held at the Cassadaga Legion, 228 Maple Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the concert starting at 6. Angola Public Library harvest dinner fundraiser

Cala’s Catering will provide a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Evans Center Fire Hall on Erie Road with proceeds benefiting the Angola Public Library. Grape Discovery Center beach glass art class

Pre-registration is required for the beach glass art class at the Grape Discovery Center, 8305 W. Main St., Westfield at 6 p.m. Visit grapediscoveryventer.com/events by Oct. 22.
