Plans underway for Class of ’62 reunion

The Dunkirk High School Class of 1962 will hold its 60th reunion on Aug. 5 and 6. On Aug. 5, there will be a mixer at a private residence. On the Aug. 6 there will be a gathering at the Clarion Hotel for finger foods and drinks.

Flags being placed in Dunkirk

Volunteers from several veterans organizations, JROTC cadets, scouts and others will be decorating Dunkirik cemeteries with American flags on the graves of all veterans to honor them for Memorial Day. If any grave is overlooked, please stop by the Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave. after 3 p.m. to pick up a flag.

Walk for Life set for June 12 in Gowanda

GOWANDA — The Annual “Walk for Life” to benefit the Tri County Pregnancy Center will take place Sunday, June 12. Registration starts at noon and walk begins at 12:30 promptly at the Gowanda Assembly of God Church, 78 Allen St.

Walker packets can be picked up at Johnson’s Plumbing and Heating, 57 Commercial St. There will be a picnic lunch following the walk. Those who would like to donate but can’t walk, can send in a donation to Tri County Pregnancy Center, P.O. Box 367, Gowanda, NY 14070

Post 62 plans Memorial Day events

The annual Memorial Day Chicken Barbecue by Weidner’s will be at Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave., on May 30, from noon to sold out, eat in or take out. Tickets are $14 presale, $15 at the door and are available at Big Rick’s One Stop Deli and at Post 62.

A silent auction sponsored by Unit 62 Auxiliary will also be available. Live entertainment will be provided by 2nd Street Sunset in the Outdoor Pavilion from 2 to 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit local veterans and legion programs.
