Americold supports area youth

Submitted Photo Staff members from Americold Curtis Monroe, Emily Gonzalez, Ashley Murawski, Wyatt Woodard and Justin Kennedy turn over their donation of backpacks and school supplies to Beth Oakes, executive director of CAP, and Kathy Parks of CASA at the Child Advocacy Center in Dunkirk.

Americold is again lending a hand to their neighbors in Chautauqua County. Following their food distribution as part of their grand opening event the company and employees are providing 100 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to the Child Advocacy Program and Court Appointed Special Advocates of Chautauqua County. School supplies can be a source of stress for families at back-to-school time especially during times of transition, but Americold is stepping up to ensure that this is one less thing for several families to worry about this year. Americold is committed to the communities in which they operate, hire from, and serve.

The Child Advocacy Program, located in Dunkirk and Jamestown, provides counseling, medical services, and supports efforts to bring justice to families that have been involved in abuse or trauma throughout Chautauqua County. Court Appointed Special Advocates support children as they enter and navigate the foster care system by providing them with an advocate that helps identify needs, and advocates for the child’s best interests.

Americold arranged the distribution through the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, who provided guidance and linkages to help facilitate the distribution. United Way aims to serve as a conduit for those looking to make a difference and those who need the help. Through their annual fundraising campaign and community programs they reach more than 20,000 residents every year while aiming to improve outcomes connected to health, education, and financial stability.
