Art in the Park festival blue ribbon winners announced

JAMESTOWN – The festival, Art in the Park, turned out to be a wonderful weekend for patrons and artists alike as the weather was as beautiful as the creations on display by the Chautauqua County Society of Artists.

The show was adjudicated by artist David Grice, a member of the active artist alliance and a freelance artist in Western New York. Grice was impressed with the wide array of talented artisans showing their work.

The Society is again holding an art show and sale, Creativity in the Cabin, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at the Celoron Community Building in front of the Lucille Ball Memorial Park.

This show features members of the Society in a holiday-themed presentation. Many different mediums will be displayed from watercolor, acrylic and oil painting to original jewelry designs, graphite drawing, fiber art and pottery.

The Chautauqua County Society of Artists has a long standing history in the area with the likes of Roger Tory Peterson being an original member of the group.

These talented artists meet monthly and look forward to a different artisan giving a tutorial about their medium concentration at each meeting.

New members are always welcome to attend and are encouraged to visit the website: www.chautauquacountysocietyofartists.com for more information.
