Alysa, Mykela and Tiffani had played handbells in Ripley, and Trevor had played bells there for seven years. Some of their classmates at Chautauqua Lake have experience playing handbells in general music classes. Davis and teacher assistant Wendy Marlinski are directing the ensemble. Students in the new handbell choir rehearse for one of three seasonal concerts at Chautauqua Lake. Some students from Ripley who had experience in that district’s bell choir are sharing their expertise with classmates at Chautauqua Lake. The bells will be featured in a Wednesday concert by students in grades 7-12. The event starts at 7 p.m., with gifts, decorations and specialty foods for the holiday season offered in live and silent auctions at intervals throughout the concert. The annual auction is sponsored by the CLCS Music Boosters to support enrichment opportunities for student musicians. Two elementary school concerts follow on Dec. 17, at 1:30 and 7 p.m. The Elementary Parent Teacher Council will hold a bake sale at both concerts, with the Chautauqua Lake Child Care Center’s basket fundraiser also offered to benefit the scholarship fund for that independent, nonprofit organization. All events will be held in the district auditorium. Admission is free, and the programs are open to the entire community.
